Our Favourite Things: The joni Gift Guide

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

With Christmas just around the corner, we thought it was a great opportunity to highlight some of our favourite brands, as curated by joni co-founder, Linda Biggs.

Known around the (virtual) office for her classic yet comfortable style and her appreciation for solid well-branded products, Linda is always in the know about female-led brands and beautiful products, so we’re stoked to get her personal holiday gift selections to share with you.

These are the brands that are making her smile and feel good these days, not only for their products, but for their value-based business approach, too.

1. Three Ships

Three Ships was started by two Canadian entrepreneurs who wanted to bring 100% natural, affordable, and vegan skin care products to Canadians. From the beautiful branding to the full list of ingredients you can actually pronounce, their products make you informed about what you are using while feeling utterly pampered. Plus, they don’t break the bank. My personal favourites are Purify Aloe + Amino Acid Cleaner and the Dew Drops Mushroom Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C Serum.

2. Dconstruct

I stumbled upon this brand a few years ago at a holiday gift market, and I love how far they have come! Handmade in Winnipeg, Dconstruct jewellery is made with recycled resin that would otherwise be waste from producers of skylights, store fixtures, and vending machine covers. I love the minimalist design and bold statements of their unique pieces—I get endless compliments when I wear their ecoresin earrings in gold + punch. Never a dull moment here!

3. Somedays

I’m a sucker for good branding and when the product is incredible too it's just such a win-win. I love how Somedays provides an all-natural, and holistic approach to period-care relief with their After Flow anti-inflammatory bath and body oil in this gorgeous kit. Of course, I believe that joni pads + somedays is the perfect combo for those who need a bit more support during their cycle. The new kind of stocking stuffer!

4. Laundry Day

Did you know that millennial women are the fastest-growing demographic of cannabis consumers? And yet, very few brands in the industry are catering to them and there’s still so much stigma around it. Enter Laundry Day, a line of design-forward smokeware founded with a mission to change the visual narrative behind cannabis use. Functional with contemporary designs, they’re beautiful enough to decorate your home with and a great conversation starter! Shown here is Tanjun Pipe in brown.

5. Meow Meow Tweet

They had me at “Meow Meow”. I’ve got sensitive skin and have been looking for an all-natural shampoo that doesn’t leave my hair covered with a weird film, like some other brands, or an overwhelming scent. I tried Meow Meow Tweet’s Rosemary Avocado Shampoo bar and I’ll never look back. It gives me the squeaky clean hair with no overwhelming scents that I’ve been looking for. They’ve got a whole line of vegan products with pure, all-natural, and organic ingredients, and if you are a sucker for amazing branding like I am, you’ll love their adorable, plastic-free packaging.

BONUS: joni (of course)

Have you ever thought of giving period pads as a gift? Why not? I’ve actually heard from a few customers now that have given joni as a unique, but much-appreciated, gift. They’ve mentioned the design-forward packaging makes it feel more gift-worthy, it’s a gift that they’ll actually use, they love introducing a sustainable and Canadian brand, and they feel good about making a positive, social impact because of joni’s one-for-one giveback model. Think stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, secret Santa, and hosting gifts:

Karma Donation Pack: given in someone’s name

Organic Bamboo Liners: one customer bought a dozen to hand out at a dinner party

joni Gift Cards: especially appealing for teens to pick their own joni

joni Subscription: set them up for a year!
